Stargate Project: A $500 Billion Bet by a Group of Lizards

Archived from MediumRead original →

Lizards are pronounced as lĭz′ərd

Tech industries are on fire right now. Meta announced that 2025 will be their year, backed by an investment of $60 — $65 billion.

AI models like Deepseek R1 release state-of-the-art free and open-source chain-of-thought reasoning models, followed by the OpenAI release of operators that can book hotel tickets, cabs, etc., by collaboration with Ola, Uber, and different hotels. Some countries ban some nonsense apps.

But interestingly, the most fascinating tech story was a beef between big personalities Sam Altman and Elon Musk, which fired up more because of the collaborations of big tech giants — SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle to gamble 500 billion dollars in building massive data centers, energy plants, management, etc. to create superintelligent computers that can eventually take my job as a backend engineer.

The Real Estimations

On news media, we see that Trump with these fellow hommies is planning to invest 500 billion dollars in four years (expected 2029) to make the US the biggest AI player in the world which says that it can open 100K jobs openings for the US — which eventually being cut off after It gets succeeded.

A significant amount of investment will be used to create personalized health issues management, the creation of a vaccination process, mRNA vaccine technologies, and the treatment of cancers.

Who Are These “Lizards”?

The lizards who are behind this project include some of the wealthiest and most powerful figures in the tech world:

  • Masayoshi Son: The CEO of SoftBank, a global investment giant — The Money Guy.
  • Sam Altman: The CEO of OpenAI, a pioneering force in artificial intelligence — The GitHub (Product) Guy.
  • Larry Ellison: Oracle’s co-founder, known for his expansive vision of technology — The OG Guy.
  • MGX Investment Firm: An Emirati-backed organization with a finger in the AI pie.

These guys will burn stacked amounts of money to advance the technology and help the US become the world's superpower by introducing the world's largest data center.

A $500 Billion Gamble

The stakes are high, yet simple and estimated: the goal is to build the world’s biggest data centers across the US.

But why is this a gamble? The project promises to employ around 100,000 people in the US, which would boost US economic growth. The main question is whether SoftBank has the financial availability. Will Oracle’s cloud computing infrastructure be able to handle the sheer scale required?

According to me, the win rate is high because of the involvement of the big players and we see that one data center is already being deployed in Texas.

This debate has already sparked controversy. While industry giants such as Larry Ellison praise the initiative’s potential, enemies like Elon Musk have raised concerns about SoftBank’s ability to deliver on the promise of a $500 billion infrastructure project.

My opinion

I infer that my opinion may not matter, but just take it as a joke.

This looks like sarcasm, but to me, they all are helping each other and fooling us, as humanity thinks this beef is real, but they all are best friends — but anyway, let’s wait and watch what is going to happen because the outcome is going to be overwhelming.

I think instead of building massive data centers to train the models that use data that promotes plagiarism, they must give royalties to the content they are using to train the model.
